Job Description:

**Hybrid schedule optional, with travel to Wichita, KS and facility locations as needed.**This Instrument & Controls Engineer has a primary focus on instrument reliability. The role will work cross functionally with facilities and be responsible for the optimization of the performance and reliability of instrument and controls systems.Responsibilities:

  • Apply instrument asset health monitoring tools to measure, report and drive action on plant and system performance (Yokogawa PRM, Emerson Valve Link, Honeywell CPM)
  • Apply instrument reliability metrics to report reliability performance and drive improvement in systems, methods and practices that impact overall plant performance
  • Apply health monitoring and reliability metrics to identify instrument deficiencies and recommend corrective action and/or more reliable instrument products
  • Review the application of instruments and determine if the right instrument is being used. If not, specify a replacement.
  • Support the Plant Instrument Maintenance Engineer, providing data and information that drives improvement to the Reliability Program for Instruments
  • Reviews and provides input to Instrument Engineering Practices, Standards and Specifications. Uses these practices when implementing solutions.
  • Provides instrument expertise as needed for design, application, installation, checkout, operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance issues for instrumentation.
  • Helps develop instrumentation capability across the fleet through training, mentoring, and providing feedback; as well as facilitating knowledge sharing across the fleet.Qualifications:
    • 5 or more years of experience in instrumentation
    • Bachelor s Degree in Engineering OR 15 or more years in instrumentation experience in a refinery, chemical process, or related industry
    • Willing to travel and average of 25% with peak periods of 50% (turnarounds, etc.)Preferred Qualifications:
      • Experience in the deployment of instrument reliability programs
      • Design, implementation, and programing experience with Yokogawa (or equivalent) DCS and SIS control systems in chemical process facilities
      • Functional safety knowledge including a working knowledge of LOPA, C&E s, SRS, and SIL ratings
      • Knowledge of process industry standards and codes, i. e. OSHA, ISA, IEC, NFPA, etc.
      • Experience with Honeywell CPM, Emerson Valve Link, or Yokogawa PRM
