Job Description:
Engineering Lab Manager Vornado Air, LLC Andover, KS Responsible
for the planning, coordinating, and overseeing our engineering test
lab. You will work with important partners in multiple levels of
Management, Engineering, Sourcing, Quality Assurance and Product
Management to ensure products are tested for design and performance
intent during production development. They oversee ongoing product
testing activities to ensure conformance with applicable
performance specifications and safety related codes, standards, and
regulations. You oversee the inspection of consumer returns to
identify performance issues and ensure accurate reporting to
company personnel for proper attention. You will also ensure the
integrity of the testing archives, testing databases and that
results are completed and recorded. You will help develop and
implement quality assurance procedures, and they will participate
in design of testing protocols of portable consumer appliances. You
will report direct to the COO. You Will: Manage lab activities and
oversees all product testing including assisting with product
testing protocols and ensuring testing accuracy, documentation and
exceptions are communicated to appropriate team members. Coordinate
work assignments and scheduling of all testing for schedule and
response timing. Interview, hiring, conducting training and
performance reviews of all lab personnel. Maintain database of
product testing results and consumer return inspections while
participating with Compliance, Quality Assurance, Engineering and
Product Marketing in conveying deficiencies in manufacturing,
component use or other noted items. Support cause of assessment
deficiencies. Maintain working knowledge of agency and internal
test requirements for all Vornado products. Responsible for the
maintenance and calibration of lab equipment and supplies and
researching and recommending lab equipment. Ensure tests are
completed of finished products and component parts to assure
compliance with UL standards or other applicable specifications.
Ensure long-time life cycle testing is completed to validate
product performance results to those claimed under the applicable
product warranty. Assist lab professionals in troubleshooting
products returned for recommendations to our company for further
review or other relevant steps. Ensure reports made to engineering,
quality assurance, compliance and management of any findings that
show a trend or common failure mode. Further helps find causes of
issues and possible resolutions. Ensure annual product assessments
are completed on a sample of all finished goods from all factories
and documents results, recommendations for further action and
communicates this information. Complete testing to ensure testing
schedules and goals are met. Aid in the development of quality
assurance procedures. Maintain active engagement with Director of
Consumer Satisfaction and Quality to support product reviews,
assessments, round table discussions and problem identification and
possible resolution. Will further help develop Corrective Action
Plans. You Have: Associates degree in Electronic Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering or other technical degree is required. 10
years minimum experience manufacturing environment required. 5
years minimum experience in lab or testing environment required 5
years minimum supervisory experience required. Apply analytical and
problem solving skills while maintaining databases, working within
deadlines and communicating in both verbal and written
applications. Experience with mechanical and electrical devices
required as well as ability to assemble and deconstruct products.
Quality Role experience. Ability to utilize data acquisition
devices (e.g. oscilloscopes, data loggers, multi-meters).
Experience with researching, pricing and recommended test equipment
and data acquisition. Ability to read product and interpret
engineering specifications, technical drawings and safety standards
is required. Can conduct and document test protocols. Must be able
to work with hand tools and power tools including; sanders,
grinders, saws, drill presses, lathes and construct basic jigs and
fixtures for testing. Must also have basic skill set with plastics,
resins and woodworking. C/C++/C# or Visual Basic is required.
Proficiency in Lab View. Authorization to work in the United States
on a full-time basis is required; employer sponsorship for
employment-based visa status is not available for this position.
