Flight Physics Engineer will be a part of a dynamic and diverse
team of engineers developing novel technological capabilities in
nascent aviation market segments. This role will be a part of a
fast paced and flexible environment and will include vehicle flight
characteristics, performance, and systems flight testing of Textron
eAviation electric and autonomous vertical lift system
aircraft.
** Description:**
Responsible for the aerodynamic analysis and development of new
eVTOL products using analytic data, wind tunnel data, and flight
test data while collaborating with other departments and groups in
flight dynamics, structures, flight control systems and flight test
certification.
The variety of tasks within the Flight Physics organization can
include aerodynamic design and analysis of aircraft loads,
performance, and handling qualities.
Will involve the development of processes, design, analysis, and
simulation models and tools using a variety of in house programs as
well as FORTRAN, MATLAB, C and MATHCAD codes on LINUX workstations
and PCs.
Participate in the entire development process, from early advanced
design efforts to final certification activity.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines such as Mass
Properties, Flight Controls, Propulsion, Mechanical Systems,
Engineering Flight Test, Stress, and Fatigue.
Apply knowledge of 14 CFR Part 23, Part 27, Part 25, Part 29, and
EASA SC-VTOL regulations to ensure all critical design and
certification analyses have been performed.
Document results in memos and certification reports for transmittal
to internal customers and global certification authorities.
Qualifications
** Education/Qualifications/Special Requirements:**
Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering is required.
The qualified candidate will have a demonstrated ability to work
well on small teams and exhibit the general competencies required
for success, such as adaptability, excellent written and verbal
communication skills, and high work standards.
Additional consideration will be given to candidates with
experience in the configuration development of new and derivative
aircraft with relevant experience in aerodynamic analysis, which
includes, but is not limited to the collection and reduction of
wind tunnel data, the development of theoretical aerodynamic
models, utilizing simulation tools to perform trajectory analysis,
calculating aircraft performance, or determining aircraft handling
characteristics.
For all candidates, fluency with programming in a structured
language as well as MATLAB and/or Visual Basic experience is highly
desirable. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Word, or
similar products, is expected.
