Description
-GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION
- - - - - - - - - - - The primary purpose of your job is to plan,
organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the
Environmental Services Department in accordance with current
federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations
governing Bethesda Home resulting in an inviting, clean,
comfortable and safe community. -
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION
Supervision of all personnel in the Environmental Services and
Maintenance Department.
Supervision of all personnel in the Homemaking/Housekeeping and
Laundry Department.
Ensure compliance with appropriate infection prevention, safety,
OSHA, Joint Commission and regulatory standards.
Monitor operations continually and complete quality assessments and
necessary action plans to provide optimal environmental
services.
Provide individual guidance and motivation to employees.
Ensure that all equipment is clean and in working condition at all
times.

-WORKING CONDITIONS
Moves intermittently during working hours.
Is subject to frequent interruptions and may need to reschedule
tasks.
Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors and family
members.
Communicates with team members of the neighborhood, as well as
other department personnel.
Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions, such as severe
weather, evacuation and disasters.
Attends and participates in continuing education programs.
Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment and cuts
throughout the work day, as well as reactions from dust,
disinfectants and other air contaminants.
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions,
etc., including TB, AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous
chemicals.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the
position.
Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will
enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements
of this position can be fully met.
Must function independently and have flexibility, personal
integrity and the ability to work effectively with the residents
and personnel.
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies
of this facility.
Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 60 pounds
to a minimum of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry
such weight a minimum distance of 10 feet.
May be called to assist in the evacuation of residents during
emergency situations.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED.
5 years of relevant building maintenance experience desired
