TITLE: Safety Director
LOCATION: Outside of Wichita, Kansas

SUMMARY:
Plans, implements, coordinates and assesses accident, fire prevention, and occupational safety and health programs for The Healthcare System under general direction of the facilities officials, utilizing knowledge of industry specific safety guidelines.
Joint Commission standards, OSHA regulations and other applicable measures as well.
-Develops and executes safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
-Prepares and enforces policies to establish a culture of safety.
-Conduct training and presentations for safety matters and accident prevention.
-Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations.
-Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
-Report on safety awareness, issues and statistics and files all safety related reports on a local, state and federal level.
-Evaluates practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law and company policy.
-Develops and recommends new procedures and approaches to safety and loss prevention based on reports of incidents, accidents, and other data gathered from hospital personnel.
-Disseminates information to department heads and others regarding toxic substances, hazards, carcinogens, and other safety information.
-Responsible for accident investigation, reporting and action plans to prevent future accidents.
-Assists department heads and administrators in enforcing safety regulations and codes.
-Measures and evaluates effectiveness of safety program, using established goals.
-Conducts building and grounds surveys on periodic and regular basis to detect code violations, hazards, and incorrect work practices and procedures.
-Maintains administrative control of records related to safety programs.
-Provides leadership to the worker compensation program by managing the claims process.
-Works closely with Human Resources to coordinate FMLA of staff on TTD and with litigated claims.
-Oversees all on-site inspections of buildings, grounds, equipment, machinery and work staff on periodic and regular basis to detect code violations, hazards and incorrect work practices and procedures.
-Assists multi-disciplinary inspectors and surveyors in the performance of their duties; provides report as required in follow-up to surveys, inspections and audits.
-Maintains professional affiliations, attend as approved, outside conferences, seminars, etc. and confers with other plant services directors.
-Participates in the Hospital Incident Command System.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management or relevant field. Master's degree preferred.
At least 3-5years safety (hospital) related experience.

Facility is 200 beds.
Position reports to VP/COO.
This is a new position so an opportunity to make the position there own.--
Looking for someone that has an understanding of legal safety guidelines and life safety code.
Has the ability to produce reports and write policy.
Has knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
Excellent organization and motivation skills.
Attention to detail and strong observation skills.
The facility is offering a salary range between 67K-85K depending on experience and a great benefit package with relocation offered.
