This position provides delivery of patient care with the knowledge of a Registered Nurse. Must demonstrate the clinical ability to work as Primary RN on the Unit. Must be able to coordinate the delivery of patient care on the Unit; completes required documentation; participate in patient/family teaching and discharge planning, effectively utilizing the Nursing Process. Provides leadership by working cooperatively and effectively with physicians, ancillary staff and other administrative and support personnel in maintaining the standards of professional nursing practice in the multidisciplinary clinical setting. Provides the basic leadership required of a Registered Nurse for subordinate staff on the Unit. Maintains quality delivery of patient care by completing patient assignments in compliance with the Nursing Process, the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, -Joint Commission and State regulations and established Hospital Policies and Procedures. Strives daily to give all customers very good care and promotes Western Plains Medical Complex's Standards of Behavior.

Essential Functions:

Provides the best possible nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing the nursing functions of patients on the unit.

Initiates and implements patient care plan.
Makes nursing assignments appropriate to the skill level of employees.
Maintains acceptable standards of patient care.
Identifies problems and guides personnel to their solution.
Creates a working climate that provides growth and job satisfaction of personnel.
Accurately and promptly implements physicians' orders.
Administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly.
Maintains the standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting.
Arranges to have needed supplies and equipment on hand.
Participates in planning changes and improvements.
Participates in hospital safety programs.
Supports and enforces infection-control policies and procedures.
Is resourceful and calm in emergencies.
Keeps House Supervisor informed of patients, needs, and problems on the nursing unit.
Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel.
Evaluates the performance of personnel with recommendations for appropriate action.
Assists in reviewing and revising policies and procedures.
Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality.
Displays concern and initiative.
Observes and supports hospital policy.
Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences.
Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitors.

Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential patient information.
Demonstrates excellent customer service through his/her attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of the organization.
Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission standards and/or standards from other accrediting bodies.

Job Requirements:
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited program in nursing. ADN required, BSN preferred.
Required Licenses
Kansas, -United States - Registered Nurses
Current Kansas Registered Nurse license.
Minimum Work Experience
1-2 years of experience preferred.
Required Skills
ACLS and NRP within 12 months of hire
S.T.A.B.L.E. for NICU nurses within 2 years of finishing NICU competencies
EFM (Intermediate or Advanced) required within 1 year of hire and completion of L&D competencies
(All certifications must be renewed prior to expiration)
