/n/nOverview:/n Get to know our CICU! Our mission in the ICU is to
provide healing, comfort and support to our patients and their
families in times of critical need. This support is provided
through two specialized ICUs: our 43 bed Pediatric ICU (PICU) and
24 bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). Our nursing staff can
cross-train for both units. Our CICU sees approximately 1,000
admissions annually, with over 400 of those children receiving
complex congenital heart surgery.Our nurses are innovators and
leaders who are helping improve care and are changing how pediatric
nursing is practiced here and around the world. Our commitment to
education and training has led to Children’s Mercy having more
advanced practice, specialty certified and BSN-prepared nurses than
any other hospital in the region. Here, nurses are leaders in
quality improvement initiatives and research studies that are
changing care and transforming lives. The CICU supports several RN
involvement initiatives including Quality Improvement, research,
and leadership development. The CICU offers many specialty training

age-appropriate plan of care for the critically ill patient and
family that promotes optimal patient outcomes. - Meets the
educational and informational needs of the critically ill patient
and family and advocates for their needs. - Maintains an
environment that is safe, comfortable, efficient, and family
centered. - Utilizes current research and evidence for practice to
expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance,
and improve nursing care quality for critically ill patients.
/n/nQualifications:/n - Associate's Degree ADN Required. Current
employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and
permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role and No
Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training or - Bachelor's Degree
Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013. Nurses
hired after this date without a BSN must complete their degree
within 5 years of their hire date. and No Experience necessary /
On-the-Job Training - One of the following: Licensed RN - MO,
Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire -
One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse
Multistate License Kansas required upon hire - RN Compact license
for all states besides KS and MO - Refer to Nursing and Advanced
Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required
