Eckerd Connects' Foster Care is an approach that caters to the physical, emotional, and social needs of children and youth in a supportive family setting until the natural family can be reunited or a permanent placement through adoption can be arranged. All children we serve in foster care receive an individualized package of wrap around services that includes home based individual and family therapy, educational support and advocacy, linkage to psychiatric care when needed, and daily instruction in identified need areas of basic living and social skills to help the child gain the skills they were never taught before. Eckerd Connects provides a continuum of wrap-around services for the family from the first inquiry call until the child graduate's high school.Please follow the link for more information about this program: Our Location:1999 North Amidon Ave, Suite 105Wichita, KS 67203Connect with us: Position Concept:This position is responsible to identify, actively recruit, assess, train, and license prospective foster parents, and to provide ongoing support, assessment and retention of licensed foster parents.Essential Functions:

  • Increase available foster home capacity through ongoing public awareness/recruitment campaign.
  • Participate in speaking engagements in accordance with the Eckerd Recruitment Plan and actively recruit foster family homes.
  • Assists in development of an annual recruitment plan in cooperation with Licensing team members.
  • Conduct pre-service (PS MAPP) training for prospective foster families.
  • Complete initial licensing activities which includes a minimum of two home visits, gathering information and assessing the families.
  • Provide ongoing support and retention for licensed foster homes including but not limited to advocacy, training and special events honoring foster families and providing 24-hour support.
  • Submit monthly reports as required by Supervisor regarding licensing activities.
  • Attend and present at monthly Foster Parent Support meetings.
  • Partner with Foster Family Specialists and Placement Coordinator regarding available capacity, utilization issues and prospective matches for children needing foster placements.
  • Perform on call responsibilities on a rotating basis.
  • Participate in the on-going development and related activities of a comprehensive quality improvement process.
  • Effectively communicate with staff, program clients and public using appropriate communication skills.
  • Adheres to general performance standards for KS Foster Care employees and maintains training requirements, Complies with organizational policies and licensing standards.Other Duties Include, But Not Limited To:
    • Participate in training and development activities as required.
    • Report any acts, incidents or conditions that reflect the possibility of inappropriate participant-to-participant, staff-to-participant, or placement family-to-participant relationships.
    • Report any use of physical force and all unusual incidents per ECKERD policy and state guidelines.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Exercise effective problem-solving techniques, tackles issues directly and makes timely decisions based upon logical conclusions of factual information.
    • Promote a professional working environment; provides assistance and support in the creation of a healthy culture which is consistent with the culture of Eckerd; fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and ensures Eckerd is perceived as a desirable place to work and visit.
    • Demonstrate emphasis on improving quality of staff, systems, and environment.
    • Adhere to the quality improvement policies and procedures throughout the course of job performance.
    • Complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner.Position Specifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Services or equivalent required; Master's degree in social services or Mental Health preferred. Licensed or License eligible behavioral health practitioner (LBP, LCSW, LMFT, LPC) preferred.Experience: Two years of social service experience required. Skills: Knowledge regarding child welfare work, including Statutes and regulations regarding licensing and placement of children in foster and adoptive homes; Strong assessment skills; Ability to multi-task; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures; Ability to work independently and utilize initiative; ability to be organized and to meet deadlines; Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations; Working knowledge of child development; Strong clinical skills; Ability to maintain confidentiality.Other: Must meet state criminal background check requirements.Travel: Must have appropriate and valid state driver's license and be able to drive for business purposes.
