Device & Supply Chain is an enterprise function accountable for the end-to-end life-cycle of T-Mobile's consumer-facing hardware portfolio (phones, chipsets, accessories, IoT), device services portfolio (insurance, warranty, trade-ins, and financing), and supply chain operations (distribution centers, logistics, inventory, etc.). TMUS supply chain supports annual purchases of $20B+ devices, 35M device sales transactions, 10M device returns, and over $2B reverse logistics spend and revenues. In addition, TMUS has multiple sales channels, with over 15K retail stores. Having data science guided decision making, planning and operations will help deliver hundreds of millions in enterprise value and over $1B inventory efficiencies for working capital. What you'll do in your role. Lead a team of data scientists who are a recognized authority in devising technical strategies for processing, analyzing, and interpreting T-Mobile customer and operational data. Bring analytical excellence and be able to use statistical/machine learning methods to identify opportunities and deliver solutions.

More specifically, this role will assume the following responsibilities:

• Provide constant improvements to supply chain forecasting models to accommodate changes in the business, promotions, customer behaviors and device lifecycle changes. Ensure forecasting models do not break down and fail to forecast device sales accurately which lead to supply chain operations failure.
• Utilize research methodologies to tackle abstract and ambiguous business problems.
• Create and maintain machine learning techniques to compliment other statistical forecasting tools and incorporate machine learning into forecasting paradigm.
• Conduct deep data analyses on customer device purchases and usage and return behaviors which are powerful insights for device strategy and supply chain planning creation.
• Leverage highly advanced statistical models and machine learning capabilities to predict device values throughout the life cycle as well as 5+ years into the future to help TMUS maximize value contribution from devices, retention, growth and profitability.
• Work with business partners to develop T-Mobile strategies with analytical findings as well as improve operational decision making with data driven solutions.
• Identify and structure analytics problems presented by observing day-to-day business operations and evolutions.
• Create a wealth of analytics insights along the paths of device lifecycle to help drive decision making in areas of device roadmap, forecasting, OEM negotiations, innovation adoptions, machine learning, and device monetization.
• Coach the team to frame complex data analytics problems and structure clean and concise presentations to establish alignment with the leadership teams and encourage adoption of those insights.
• Design operations trials for operations process improvements.
• Design analytics and automations of the analytics insights to infuse into operations. The experience you'll bring.
  • Experience cleanly and logically framing complex business problems to structure analytics that can answer those problems
  • Able to drive and adapt to complex and quickly evolving analytics solutions to complex business issues that may take months and sometimes up to a year to solve, while continuously establishing alignment with multiple stakeholders based on new findings and new objectives
  • Strong data science coding skills including Python, C++, SAS, SQL
  • Very strong communication skills in verbal, written and presentations
  • Strong mental agility to recognize business objective evolution and ever-changing value equations to lead the team to modify and sharpen the analytics to meet business needs
  • Strong PowerPoint presentation skills to create clean, well-structured, aesthetically professional decks consumable for SLT, SVPs and VPs
  • Strong team leadership and can inspire and motivate team members to continue to improve, see the career development path and create a strong sense of mission
  • Strong ability to conceptualize complex data structures for dual stacks of data flow and business models in order to guide the team to be comprehensive on their analytics
  • Strong work ethic and project management skills to drive to ETAs and ensure on-time project delivery
  • 5+ years of people management experience in a fortune 100 company
  • 5+ years in an executive leadership role with recognized success in building consensus and establishing alignment
  • 15 years in a data science domain with hands-on experience
  • Proven experience in analytics leadership roles supporting decision making and strategic roadmap creation
  • Undergraduate and graduate degrees in quantitative disciplines such as mathematics, statistics, econometrics required
  • A doctoral degree in those disciplines preferred
  • MBA strongly preferredPERSONAL
