PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Welder is responsible for assembling pieces, and welding
railway components using a heavy machinery that emits high
heat.
Task and Responsibilities:
Using work orders, ITP and blueprints layout, and weld plates.
Proficiently layout and weld plates.
Read and follow the production schedule.
Safely operate jib and overhead cranes.
Able to work with little supervision
Checking welds to make sure it falls within the tolerances marked
on the blueprint.
Physical Demands:
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, stooping, kneeling,
crouching or climbing.
Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach
with hands and arms.
Regularly lift and move up to 10-15 pounds, frequently lift and
move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 70
pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception and ability to adjust focus.
Hearing abilities related to job assigned.
Job Requirements (e.g. education, experience, skills and desired
competencies)
High School graduate or GED preferred
2 years of welding experience preferred
Forklift and Crane certification preferred
Welding certification preferred
Ability to read work orders, ITP's, blue prints, rulers and tape
measures
Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting
whole numbers, fractions and decimals
Working Location:
