Job DescriptionPOSITION: Outside Sales Support SpecialistDEPARTMENT: SalesCLASSIFICATION: Exempt SUMMARY:General Responsibilities:The Outside Sales Support Specialist will provide support to the sales staff by performing customer site evaluations, equipment capital planning, and pre-bid opportunity coordination. Reports to: Inside Sales ManagerDirect reports: NoneDirection:

  • Minimal supervision. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:60% Provide support to outside sales staff.
    • Performs customer job site walks with direction from Account Executive/Sales Engineer to identify mechanical deficiencies for replacement and capital planning
    • Setting up data loggers for IAQ studies and future energy projects
    • Verification of mechanical/DDC systems to determine scope of work
    • Supports sales staff to make sure all necessary information is at project handoff meetings to ensure project success.30% Provide support to sales staff for pre-bid opportunities.
      • Reviews and downloads up and coming projects and keeps up-to-date plans, addendums and bid dates for projects.
      • Post up-coming jobs to the bid calendar and include all appropriate employees.
      • Conduct pre bid follow up on all addendums, contact listed general contractors and request mechanical or electrical bidders and contact the mechanical and electrical bidders as directed.
      • Meet all deadlines for milestones within a bid.
      • Coordinate with all departments to determine who is bidding 2 days prior to the bid.10% Engages in Personal Training and Development.
        • Works with manufacturers to stay up on their current processes to ensure proper procedures are followed.
        • Studies literature and attends seminars to keep current on products, processes, and materials.
        • Embraces feedback to be used for personal development. QUALIFICATIONS:Education
          • Experience in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction, or related field preferred but not required.Skills and Experience
            • Two years of experience in mechanical contracting, engineering, or related field, required.
            • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals and HVAC concepts and operations, preferred.
            • Sales experience, preferred.
            • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
            • Mathematical abilities to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and create and interpret graphs.
            • Ability to build rapport and strengthen relationships with new and existing customers.
            • Strong problem solving ability.
            • Organized, thorough, and detail oriented.
            • Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
            • Excels in a diverse team environment.
            • Well versed in the utilization of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) and any relevant software applications.
            • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
            • Ability to evaluate urgency of situation and prioritize tasks. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

                • Requires occasional travel to and from job sites, primarily within the local area and Kansas City.
                • Requires occasional overnight stays in the Kansas City area.Training and development:
                  • Studies literature and attends seminars to keep current in products, processes and materials. Must be familiar with competitors' product lines and how our products met or exceed specification.Physical RequirementsRequires standing, walking, bending, squatting or twisting on a regular basis. May require the ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or reach with hands and arms occasionally. Requires the ability to carry, lift, move or push up to 20 pounds on a regular basis and may be required to carry, lift, move or push 100 or more pounds on an occasional basis. Must be able to talk and listen to others. Frequently uses hands or fingers to handle of feel. Frequent use of manual dexterity and visualization of a computer screen through the day. Requires ability to see up close and distant, distinguish colors, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.Work EnvironmentThis position regularly works in an office setting and also frequently visits company sites in all types of indoor and outdoor conditions including near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places, extreme heat, cold and humidity. Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic fumes or chemicals. Regular noise levels range from minimal to moderate, but may be very loud when visiting job sites.Most of the job duties require the employee to be working with computers and electronic media on a regular basis. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to complete all areas outlined for this position in a satisfactory manner.
